Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. SAY IT! has no accounts or sign-in. Open the app, choose a language and start learning.

How much does SAY IT! cost?

SAY IT! is planned to launch free, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.

Which languages are included?

25 languages are in development: Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, English, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, Filipino, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Irish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese. Lessons are drafts that we check with automated tests. They have not yet been reviewed by native speakers, and the app says so.

How does a child leave Kids Mode?

Kids Mode stays on, even if the app is closed and reopened, until a grown-up turns it off:

  • Tap the Grown-ups lock button on the Kids home screen.
  • Answer the parent question (a short arithmetic question).
  • Tap Exit Kids Mode.
Where is my progress saved?

Only on your device. We never receive it, so we can't see it or restore it for you. Deleting the app deletes your progress. Your phone's own iCloud or Android backup may include it, under your control.

How do I reset progress or remove a learner?
  • To remove an added learner, open Family.
  • To reset a child's progress, go to Kids Mode → Grown-ups and answer the parent question.
  • To erase everything, delete the app.
I can't hear the words. What should I check?
  • Turn the volume up, and on iPhone check that the silent switch is off.
  • SAY IT! uses your phone's built-in text-to-speech voice. If a language has no voice installed, add one in your phone's settings (on iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices; on Android: Settings → Text-to-speech).
  • Some lessons are marked as having no sound yet. That's expected for those lessons.
Does SAY IT! use the microphone or camera?

No. SAY IT! does not ask for the microphone, camera, photos, contacts or location.
